A striking triangle indicates the 12 o’clock position: In earlier times, pilots only had a split second to determine the position of the hands and read the time reliably. Large Arabic numerals and additional indices set against a black background, combined with diamond-shaped hands, underscore the watch’s exceptional readability. Moreover, all the elements are luminescent thanks to the use of the latest luminous material, Super-LumiNova BG W9, which gives the dial a blue shimmer in the dark. A stylized airplane motif with a red-tipped second hand resonates with the idea of flight.
The additional functions, date and day display, blend discreetly into the background thanks to a tone-on-tone finish that mirrors the dial color.
The Newton Day-Date is also available in a navy blue or a stone grey dial version and with hand-applied, stained numerals in place of luminescent numerals.
