The Davosa Ternos Professional GMT 16157109 is the kind of watch that every watch lover would crave. It feels perfect on the wrist, has excellent quality and impeccable finishing, and comes at an amazing price point – so much that many of our customers ask themselves (and to us) how it is possible to deliver such a feature-packed Swiss-made high-end watch at such an affordable price. Yet, it is, as you will see, And it gets even more precious and enticing if we explore its history a little bit.
"Tell me a story." There are stories concealed behind the most famous watch models, and they stay hidden there, ready to be discovered and to amaze the listener, who hears them for the first time with the surprise that makes him return to be like a little child again. And this is one of those cases.
The story recounts the epic time of the first transoceanic flights, with the discovery of the novelty of finding oneself in another country after only a few hours, with a different climate, and a different timezone. This was the reason why the PanAm executives had commissioned the creation of the first GMT watch, which was dressed in the red and light blue social colors used by the airline. So when we call it "Pepsi" today, we're actually getting the company reference wrong. But we get the right reference when we call this model, with its masculine red and black color combination, “Coke”.
The Davosa Ternos Professional GMT 16157109 is still a watch made for travel, thanks to its sturdy stainless steel case and its precise and indestructible DAV 3032 movement. Its GMT function makes it perfect for marking time in two different timezones, and combined with the action of the two-color, unidirectional ceramic bezel with 120 clicks, you can easily track a third.
The design and finishing of the case are elegant, with contrasting polishes on the stainless steel carrure elements which complement the bracelet. The black dial with very evident hands, applied indexes, and the generous lumen is perfectly legible even in low light situations, and its readability stands out thanks to the sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment.
A luxury watch with a perfect fit, thanks to the curved shape of the lugs that follow the profile of the wrist, which renders it easily wearable, while still having an important wrist presence with its 42 mm size. The stainless steel bracelet, with its special five-segment Jubilee-style link design, makes it secure on the wrist and ready for any challenge.
The Davosa Ternos Professional GMT 16157109 offers a water resistance of 200 meters, which makes it perfect for aquatic activities, skin diving or amateur scuba diving, or other sports activities without any issue: it is a tough high-end watch. But we're sure you'll want to wear it on other occasions as well, like for an important meeting at your office downtown.
The DAV 3032 automatic movement is based on one of watchmaking's most popular movements, the Swiss-made ETA 2893, a 28,800 BPH high-beat movement that offers 38 hours of power reserve.
It comes with a manufacturers warranty of two years, sent in a few days straight to your door via Express Courier.
In few words, a classic Swiss-made GMT watch that packs the legacy of times past, the perfection of modern craftsmanship, and the toughness of a real tool watch that you can trust everywhere. All with the inner elegance of a person who knows how these features are important in a timepiece.
This GMT is very pleasing to the eye in many ways from the stainless steel to the Ceramic bezel. All in all the watch seems to be made with a look and feel of quality. The only criticism is the look and functionality of the clasp. Could be better designed and made with more attention to fit and finish. Does not stand out from its competitors at the same price range.
Finally….after a few long years of waiting, Davosa completed the trifecta of sport timepieces in my collection. The “Batman, Pepsi and now Coke”. Yesterday, I received my new 16157109 Ternos "Coke" edition with the Pentalink bracelet. The watch arrived by DHL Express and made the journey across the pond in perfect condition. I would say Davosa packs their timepieces to survive anything the box may encounter along the way. Besides the waterproof plastic covering, the watch was “triple boxed” and padded. The black lacquered box is especially nice.
I was very surprised to see a supplemental box taped to the package. I opened this box first and wow. Inside was a Davosa rubber band strap 16955555 made exclusively for the Ternos. Now that was an unexpected and expensive gift. Also included was a Davosa branded watch tool for removing and sizing watch straps and bracelets. Finally, I opened the box and was not disappointed.
Let me add, I am very critical and expect perfection with my watch purchases. I enjoy the Swiss made Boutique style brands. I have Steinhart and Squale. But this is my 4th Davosa and there is a reason why. Yes, Davosa does cost more than the competitors. The value that Ternos offers for the price point is by far the best value for your money compared to the other brands offering similar executions.
My new Ternos “Coke” edition has a 42mm case size and the weight on the wrist is perfect for me. It just feels good and makes me smile when I look at it. The dial, Mercedes hands and red GMT pointer are perfect. The smooth sweep of the second hand is mesmerizing. The DAV 3032 automatic movement is based on one of watchmaking's most popular movements, the Swiss-made ETA 2893, a 28,800 BPH high-beat movement that offers 38 hours of power reserve. I really love the cyclops and ceramic bezel in the iconic black /red color scheme with a black dial is stunning. The Pentalink bracelet is very comfortable, adds a touch of elegance and simple to size with the screw in links. The satin finish on the stainless steel is perfect for me. There is just enough high polish to catch a reflection or two of light.
I wound the watch, set the time and allowed my Ternos to sit for 24 hours. It is keeping perfect time. I sized the bracelet to fit my 185mm wrist perfectly using the super nice screw in links and micro adjustments on the clasp.
In conclusion, another “home run” by Davosa. Now…..all I need to complete my small Ternos collection is a 42mm in the faded blue dial. I know you guys currently offer a 40mm…..but that is just too small. Please re-issue with the 42mm!
